Western Pennsylvania Educators for Awareness, Compassion, and Empathy (We-PEACE)
In honor of National Poetry Month, Faith Barrett has put together a set of free writing topics and will share some meditation-inflected poems we can read, discuss, and write in response to. Please bring your preferred writing materials! (Scrap paper will be available!)
Faith is Associate Professor of English at Duquesne University, where she teaches courses in 19th century American literature and culture and in creative writing/poetry. Her current research focuses on the ways that self-taught 19th century writers use poetry as a means of articulating political critique.
We-PEACE provides a place of support and exploration of how we can bring mindfulness to our educational institutions. The monthly meetings are a chance for personal practice, sharing of ideas and resources, support, and renewal.
If you want to learn how to start integrating mindfulness or would like support in the work you are already doing, come join us!
We-PEACE meets every third Thursday of the month 7:00-8:30 p.m., September 2016 through May 2017.
If you want to learn how to start integrating mindfulness or would like support in the work you are already doing, come join us! We-PEACE is an affinity group sponsored by the Pittsburgh Shambhala Meditation Center.
